Students raise funds for tragic dad's charity

TOURISM and hospitality management students have raised €2,225 for an Irish Cancer Society Daffodil Centre named after a young man who courageously fought the disease.

Father-of-one Stephen Buckley (31) lost his battle against cancer, but the Daffodil Centre at Cork University Hospital (CUH) was opened in his memory last year.

Now, tourism and hospitality management students at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) have selected the Stephen Buckley Daffodil Centre as their chosen charity for 2014.

"Stephen really was a very special person – he was an inspiration to all who knew him," a family spokesman said. "We want to pay a special tribute to these young students for their generosity in supporting such a worthy cause."
