Robert Heffernan back in competitive action

Robert Heffernan made his competitive comeback at the Lugano Race Walking Grand Prix in Zurich, Switzerland.

Robert Heffernan (Togher AC) was back in racing action last weekend, finishing fifth in the 20k event at the Lugano Race Walking Grand Prix in Switzerland in 1:20.57.

Heffernan, who won gold in the 50k at last year's World Track and Field Championships in Moscow, was happy with his performance. He was using the event as an early-season form gauge as he prepares for the European Championships.

Robinson Qualifies for European finals

Paul Robinson, of St Coca's AC, finished third in the 1,500m at last weekend's Sydney Track Classic in Australia in 3:39.03 – a time that qualifies him for the event in the European Track and Field Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, this summer.

In the same event, Laura Crowe (An Ríocht AC) finished seventh in the women's 800m in 2:03.16.
