Thanks in part to these adorable baby Red Pandas, 2012 proved to be a red letter year for Dublin Zoo with a rise in the number of visitors yet again giving it an all-time high of 1, 029, 417 people through the doors. What's more, over 95pc of visitors were domestic, meaning Irish people are the biggest supporters of this national treasure. A not-for-profit organisation, Dublin Zoo plans to develop its offering even further in 2013. "We are delighted to say that the Zoo is more popular than ever," says Leo Oosterweghel, the Zoo's director. "The Zoo belongs to the Irish people who have a great pride in such a world-class facility and we share our success with the generations who continue to support us."
If you'd like to visit, the Zoo is open seven days a week from 9.30am - 4.30pm this month.
