The popular and enjoyable four-race Feet First/Mizuno 5k Series in Killarney concluded on Sunday as two new names were added to the honours list.
National duathlon champion, Corkman Cathal O'Donovan, who had been out of action for the early part of the year after a bike accident, returned in style with an impressive victory.
O'Donovan, along with Philip Harty and Ed Murphy, set a fast pace over the opening kilometres. Moving away from Harty after 3k, the St Finbarr's man finished in 15.30, nine seconds clear of the West Waterford athlete who was having his first race since posting 2:21.58 at the Berlin Marathon in September.
Sinead Brophy of Galway City Harriers deprived Siobhan Daly of her fourth win in the series as she held on for a one-second victory in 19.12. Daly took the overall honours with the men's equivalent going to Ed Murphy.
