IRISH mothers have poor knowledge about the need to get the whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy, according to research presented to a conference in Dublin.
They also have a lack of awareness of the need to ensure an adolescent in a family home with a young baby is vaccinated.
The research, by Dr Edina Moylett, Dr Monica Parmar and Dr Bryan Reidy of the Department of Paediatrics, NUI Galway, was presented to the annual meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases.
