Making memories for Alzheimer's campaign
RTE's Mary Kennedy and four-year-old Maggie Matthews helped launch The Alzheimer Society of Ireland's Christmas Memory Ribbon campaign.
The aim is to fund the vital services it provides for people with Alzheimer's and dementia nationwide.
The appeal provides members of the public with the opportunity to publicly thank a loved one affected by Alzheimer's for the memories they left behind throughout their life.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland provides day care, home care, carer support groups, respite, training and operates a national helpline in every county in Ireland. However, it warns that it is struggling to cope with a greater demand for support and is calling on the public to support its campaign as money raised locally will be directed into local services.
Maurice O'Connell, CEO of The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, said: "Alzheimer's has a devastating impact on families. We really need support this Christmas if we are to maintain vital services for those desperately needing them."
