Let the season put a spring in your step

The countdown is on to the City Series on March 9 in the Phoenix Park.
The countdown is on to the City Series on March 9 in the Phoenix Park.

As we sent this week's edition of FIT to press, there was more than a hint of spring creeping into the air. I didn't want to jinx it, but brighter mornings and evenings are starting to come upon us, and with them an increased desire to get out and about.

Before we know it, it'll be Easter and then summer, and if we have even half the good weather we had last year, we'll be laughing (and sweating!).

This week's cover star Samantha Mumba knows the benefits of warm weather on her fit lifestyle; living in LA some of the time definitely helps the pop star stay on the straight and narrow.

As well as taking hikes in the Hollywood hills, she can be found personal training in the city centre, and it's all helping her stay active.

Race season has really kicked off too, as evidenced by all the events in this week's live Up and Running section. Our own race is a mere 10 days away in the Phoenix Park, and did you know we're coming to Cork again this year on July 13? Sign up for the Dublin leg by tomorrow to avail of the early bird rates at www.fitmagazine.ie/events.

We also meet a group of Unilever employees who have decided to take part in their own run, the Flora Mini Marathon, on the June bank holiday weekend, and who are using the FIT City Series as a milestone race on the way to their long-term goal.

For more information on signing up a group or business to the race, email customerservice@ fitmagazine.ie. There's fun in numbers!

Until next week ...
