Believe. Run. Fit. Balance. Life. These are my five words for 2014. The five words that I write on the inside of my diary, ensuring that I see them every day, every week, every month and work towards creating them in the next 12 months.
By identifying them, making them visible and giving myself a target to work towards, it gives my year a focus. It gives me things to work towards when I look at my diary every day. It ensures I get out of bed with a purpose.
I have done this every year for the past 17 years and have found it powerful.
Try it for yourself. What are the five words that you identify for yourself this year? What is it you want to achieve?
Write them down and put them somewhere visible. This is focus. Believe in yourself and work towards these words.
UP THE ANTE
Want to get the most out of your cardiovascular workouts? Add in some intervals.
Simply pick two speeds, one fast and one slow, and alternate between the two.
As you get fitter, increase the time you spend going fast and reduce the time going slow.
Poached eggs over asparagus
Eggs are a complete protein. By poaching them you are making them in the healthiest way possible by not frying them and using no oil. Asparagus is a superfood. It aids digestion and is full of antioxidants too. Serves four as a light breakfast.
you will need
Handful of asparagus
Bring 1 inch of salted water to the boil.
Add asparagus. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, drain and keep warm in the oven.
Bring 500ml of water, vinegar and salt to the boil in 9-inch saucepan over a medium heat.
Crack 1 egg and drop it into water, holding shell as close to surface as possible and cook for 3 minutes. Cook one egg at a time.
Divide asparagus among 2 plates. Top each serving with 1 poached egg.
Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Shave over your Parmesan as required.
