WRITERS from the Irish Independent have made a strong showing at this year’s Crystal Clear MSD Health Literary Awards.

Health Correspondent Eilish O’Regan was a finalist in the Best Health Communication Through Journalism category for the “Alcohol Nation” investigation in the Irish Independent.   The three-page special report highlighted an unpublished report showing the extent to which women are drinking during pregnancy while also providing first-hand accounts on the coping skills that can prevent people drinking to excess.

Yvonne Hogan, Karen Connell and Tony Carroll were finalists in the same category for ‘MS, Motherhood and Me’, which appeared in the Irish Independent’s ‘Health and Living’ supplement and told of the effect of Karen’s MS diagnosis on her family from both Karen and Tony’s point of view.
