UHI: Universal Health Insurance is essentially health insurance for all. It's compulsory and those who can't afford it get the cost covered or subsidised by the State.
Basket: The basket is the services covered for free under UHI. It's expected to include GP care, acute care in hospital and mental health.
MFTP: Money Follows The Patient is a way of paying hospitals for the number of patients they treat. Rather than paying a block grant, hospitals will get money based on their output.
NPO: The National Pricing Office will set the prices to be paid to hospitals for procedures and subsequently charged to health insurance firms.
HC: The Healthcare Commission will figure out how much UHI will cost and how many people will get the various levels of subsidy to cover the cost.
