The first Ballygiblin 5k outside Mitchelstown saw victory going to Peter Hanrahan of Togher who covered the out-and-back course in 16:36 for an eight-second victory over David Ryan.

With a strong headwind to contend with on the outward journey, the early pace was slow, with Ryan, of the Clonmel club, leading at the turn. On the return journey, Hanrahan closed the gap before using his speed to good advantage.

Skibbereen's John Collins finished third in 16:53 with Kevin Moore, Dundrum AC, fourth in 17:02.

Aisling Moran of Leevale had an impressive win, her time of 18:45 close to her PB of 18:22.

Her twin sister Aine took third spot in 19:53 behind Grainne O'Callaghan, who posted 19:37.
