Students from Blackrock College in Dublin last week marked the official launch of their 25th Annual St Patrick's Day badge campaign by creating the world's largest human shamrock. A total of 815 boys formed the giant shamrock and held their positions for well over five minutes to comply with Guinness World Record rules.
This is the 25th year of the campaign, during which time over €2m has been raised for Goal and Aidlink. The project is run and managed entirely by transition year boys in the college.
The St Patrick's Day badges – which cost just €2 – will once again be sold by the students on streets, shops and newsagents in the run-up to St Patrick's Day. The money raised will be split equally between Goal and Aidlink to help those organisations' much-needed projects in the developing world.
