The extension of free GP care to around 56,000 people with long-term illnesses will lead to "chaos", GPs have claimed.
The long-delayed allocation of a GP-visit card to people on the long-term illness scheme is due by next summer after legislation is published and passed through the Oireactas.
GPs, who will lose out on their private fees but will receive an annual capitation payment for each of the patients, are angry that, so far, no negotiation has taken place on the issue.
