People who are planning a pregnancy are invited to a free information day organised by the Merrion Fertility Clinic in Dublin next Saturday.
The event which has no charge is a 'His and Hers Fertility Bootcamp' and will take place in the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin. It is to offer advice on nutrition , exercise, emotional well-being, holistic therapies such as Chinese medicine and acupuncture, as well as providing an opportunity to meet and talk to fertility experts.
Also included is information on Mindfulness/ Personal Resilience in Preparing for Pregnancy; Nutrition and Fertility; Exercise and Weight Management; traditional Chinese medicine/ acupuncture; and medical issues to watch out for.
Speakers for the half-day event include Michael Comyn, Founder of The Fearless Organisation, Dr Noel McCaffrey, an expert in sports medicine, Dr Mary Wingfield, Clinical Director Merrion Fertility Clinic, Sinead Curran, Senior Nutritionist at the National Maternity Hospital and Kay Duff, Relationship and Fertility Counsellor.
Dr Mary Wingfield who is a consultant gynaecologist and clinical director at the Merrion Fertility Clinic said: "Our goal for the Bootcamp is to provide an informal setting for those who are planning a pregnancy or just thinking about starting a family to understand the various stages and issues involved.
"One in six couples experience difficulties trying to conceive. This often comes as a complete shock to people and we hope to raise awareness about ways to achieve a healthy pregnancy and avoid these fertility problems."
