SHE was single-handedly responsible for raising more than half a million euro for the Irish Cancer Society when she bravely shaved off her hair live on ‘The Late Late Show’.

And yesterday Daniel O’Donnell’s wife Majella continued her support for the cancer charity when she told hundreds of volunteers at the launch of the 27th Annual Daffodil Day about how she has dealt with breast cancer.

Majella expected to raise €10,000 to support people living with the disease when she went public about her battle with the illness, but she has helped to raise almost €600,000 to date, a spokesperson for the charity said.

They said the charity had been inundated with messages from people who Majella’s actions had helped, and were delighted to have her back on board to support this year’s Daffodil Day campaign – this time with her husband Daniel in tow.

Last year saw the famous campaign suffer a 20pc drop in its number of donations, which it said was due to poor weather conditions.

However, the spokesperson said they expect to raise €3.45m during this year’s campaign, which takes place on Friday, March 28.
