Concern over fire safety in hospital

FIRE officers have officially expressed concerns in relation to overcrowding at one of the country's busiest A&E units.

Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service has requested the HSE carry out a risk assessment of operations at the Mid- Western Regional Hospital.

It's understood the fire service received a tip-off from a consultant.

A source in the HSE in Limerick said: "You can't walk from one door to the other in there without falling over patients."
