A project designed to help the elderly and vulnerable of the nation's capital was launched by Lord Mayor Naoise O Muiri this week at Finglas Fire Station in North Dublin.
Lions Club Ireland's 'Message in a Bottle' is a simple scheme which encourages people to keep their personal and medical details in a container which is stored in the fridge.
"The aim of 'Message in a Bottle' is to give our more vulnerable neighbours and friends the most efficient care possible and ultimately lead to the saving of lives. With full message bottles readily available to the Emergency Services, vital minutes can be saved when treating patients in the event of an emergency," said Mr O Muiri.
Containers will be available in all Dublin fire stations for a limited period of time.
They will also be circulated to Dublin City Council's 3,000 sheltered housing units with the assistance of the Community Development Officers.
In addition, Dublin Fire Brigade will be issuing the containers through its ongoing fire safety community programmes.
