Abbey McGeough from Ballyvolane with Elisha Twomey, Tracy Cullen and the girls from St Marys on the Hill Choir, pictured at the candlelight fundraising walk organised by UCC security staff.
Abbey was born with hydrocephalus, a condition which affects her hips and prevents her from walking independently.
She also suffers from epilepsy and spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. Abbey is a candidate for a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), a complicated operation carried out in the US/UK, which reduces spasticity but will cost around €60,000, with an additional €40,000 needed for physiotherapy in Ireland, both before and after the operation.
