  • Hardly anybody handwrites anything any more, which makes Letters of Note that much more remarkable.

It collects the outpourings of the great and the good (usually) before they were famous. The archive includes such gems as Clint Eastwood aged 24 kowtowing himself before director Billy Wilder or guitarist Slash writing to his girlfriend when aged 14.

Developed by Wicklow mum Lisa Domican with the aid of iPhone guru Steven Troughton-Smith, Grace replicates flip cards electronically, enabling autistic children to communicate better.

  • Microsoft is slowly releasing its grip on the web browser market by presenting users of Windows across Europe with an option to download one of 11 others.

Many users aren't even aware of free and better alternatives for browsing the web. The new option, which is being rolled out gradually, is part of a concession to the EC following a 10-year dispute.
