It was a night that celebrated the bond between Ireland and the US and who better to host it than home-grown New York-based hotelier himself, John Fitzpatrick.
Several familiar faces turned out at the Residence club on Dublin's St Stephen's Green on Tuesday evening to join John for fine wine and good food – an annual tradition these days.
While he was in town to discuss the success of his hotel in the Big Apple in recent times and his belief that we're seeing the beginning of a tourism and economic upturn – the theme of the night was undoubtedly Gerry Ryan.
During his speech to thank "friends and family" who gathered in the plush surroundings on a sunny evening for their continued support, John gave an emotional toast to the late DJ on the third anniversary of his death.
"We miss him every day," he said.
Among the guests to attend were Virginia Macari, Robbie Fox, Anne Doyle and Maura Derrane.
Of course, leading the way was RTÉ's main man, Ryan Tubridy, who arrived looking appropriately kitted out for the event with a bright green handkerchief fitted into his breast pocket.
