Gangster recipes are to die for

They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So it's no wonder that married Sopranos star James Gandolfini recently admitted that he's still a little bit in love with actress Edie Falco, who played his wife Carmela on the show.

As the mafia matriarch, Carmela could whip up a baked ziti quicker than you can say, 'Bada Bing!'

And her calorific home cooking was so sinful, even Fr Phil couldn't resist.

So you wouldn't need to be a wiseguy to give The Sopranos Family Cookbook a shot.

We flicked straight to one of Tony's favourite dishes, Pasta Fagioli – or 'pasta fazool' as the don would say.

The recipe for the tasty pasta and cannellini bean dish was easy to follow and only took 20 minutes to make.

Simply panfry some garlic and celery, chuck in the whole peeled tomatoes and tomato purée, sprinkle in some crushed red pepper and stir in the cooked pasta and beans. Capisce?

Between tomato-splattered pots and tiles though, afterwards there was a clean-up job fit for "waste management consultant" Tony.

As for attempting Carmela's signature baked ziti? Fahgettaboudit!
