- Dulong Sauvignon Blanc Bordeaux AC 2007 -- a simple, zesty number from a good year for Bordeaux whites. With crisp and lively citrus flavours, it's a good party choice or, alternatively, with simple fish or chicken dishes. Available from Dunnes Stores. Reduced to €7.99 from December.
- Tesco Finest Denman Vineyard Hunter Valley Semillon 2006 -- impressive at the price; smooth, glossy, sweet lemon and lime peel with an added nutty complexity, showing what Semillon can do with bit of age, while staying delightfully fresh. Only 10.5pc alc. Enjoy on its own or with fish and chicken dishes. €9.99 Available from Tesco.
- Philippe Michel Crémant du Jura 2007 -- it's not Champagne, and nor is the price. A French sparkling wine made in the same way as Champagne and from one of its grapes, Chardonnay, it comes pretty close to the real thing. Plenty of apple and lemon, with a nice touch of toast and honey and a dry finish, although a bit short on bubbles. 12pc. €10.99. Available from Aldi.
