Enda's midnight dash to the Fine Gael party
TALK about party faithful! Fresh from wreaking devastation on the nation, the Fine Gael Christmas drinks for the media went ahead last Tuesday and apparently a great hoot was had by all in The Lincoln Inn.
Enda Kenny arrived after midnight and lovely Leo Varadkar put in an appearance. There was plenty of hooch to wash down canapes, fish balls and cheesy pastries.
Meanwhile the messianic bon viveur of Killiney Hill continued to spread tidings of joy. Last night, Bono threw a bash at the Royal Hibernian Club on Stephen's Green for U2's esteemed super-stylist and all round superwoman Sharon Blankson.
All of U2 and their partners were expected, as were Guggi, Gavin Friday and, of course, The Simon Carmody Community. Bono and the SCC were slated to attend the Horslips concert at the Olympia on Friday night, where Horslips had reserved a box for them.
Gerald Kean threw a charity gig in aid of the Ross Nugent Foundation at his Wicklow gaff, Drayton Manor on Thursday. It was a small gathering of 400 people – among them Peter Aiken, Ann Marie Nohl, Jason O'Callagan and Catriona Hanly.
The following night Derek Daniels and Courtney O'Hara hosted the Assets Christmas Party at Bucks Townhouse on Leeson Street. Among those who'd RSVPed were Amanda Brunker, Pamela Flood, Claudine Keane, Brent Pope, the Xpose girls, Alan Quinlan, Nadia Forde and former Miss Ireland, Sarah Morrissey.
The beauteous Sarah is flying to London with her new fiance Pat Jennings (they got engaged in New York a fortnight ago after six and a half years together) to spend the yuletide season with her husband-to-be's family. They will be back in Dublin for New Year's Eve.
As for a wedding date, they haven't decided yet but, says Sarah, "a summer wedding is appealing so who knows, we'll sit down after Christmas and try to come up with something.
"I'm still enjoying being engaged as it's so new and we've a lot of celebrating to do."
