'Teachers put in the work so we should, too'

"We're motivated," says sixth-year Sharon, and the four pupils in our photo certainly are. Emma says: "When you know what you want to do, it's just the fact of doing it. Fifth year is hard but it's a big shock when you get into sixth year.

"It's not the fact it's hard to get up in the morning, and it's hard to get on the bus. You only have one shot at it so you get yourself up and just do it for the next couple of months. The teachers are putting in the work, so why shouldn't you? A lot of schools don't get that, and we do, and we're grateful for it."

Tori: "I want to go to college to do Spanish and History and become a secondary teacher."

Emma: "I hope to do medicine in UCD or the Royal College of Surgeons.

"My back-ups for medicine are a children's nurse or genetics, but medicine, paediatrics, is number one."

Shauna: "I want to go to Maynooth to do art with Spanish and Geography or social science. After that I'm looking at social work or going to Spain to teach."

Sharon: "I want to go to NUI Maynooth and do psychology and become a social worker."
