Science for Life, a special Irish Independent supplement published in association with the Higher Education Authority (HEA), featured a series of articles highlighting the relevance of science to everyday life.
It extended an open invitation to all, including schools and sports teams, to submit questions in a science, technology, engineering or maths-related area.
Questions -- and answers provided by experts from Irish universities and institutes of technology -- will feature in a second supplement to be published on May 1.
In some cases, the experts will travel to schools to deliver the response in person, providing an exciting opportunity for students to tease out issues with a leading scientist.
