DCU appoints top researcher as new president

DUBLIN City University has appointed Professor Brian MacCraith as its new president, to succeed Prof Ferdinand von Prondzynski, whose term of office ends in July 2010.
Prof MacCraith (52) is Professor of Physics at DCU and director of the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute, a Science Foundation Ireland Centre for Science, Engineering and Technology.
He is an internationally renowned academic for his work in sensor research and the creation of university collaborations with major corporations in the development of new technologies.
