TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has backed up Education Minister Ruairi Quinn's hardline stance that secondary school teaching jobs are on the line after some teachers rejected the Haddington Road Agreement.
The ASTI has rejected the agreement, and almost 500 schools are bracing themselves for industrial action from 8am next Wednesday.
Mr Quinn told the Dail last night that teachers who support it automatically lose protections it provides, such as job security.
Mr Kenny also told the Dail this morning "the Haddington Road Agreement offers protection for those who support it" and said 300,000 public servants had accepted it.
And the Taoiseach also ruled out new talks with the ASTI, saying: "The Haddington Road Agreement will not be renegotiated".
