Wednesday March 24 2010

A new exam tips website created by a group of Meath Transition Year pupils has won the backing of Microsoft.Produced by a TY class at Ratoath College, mystudymate.ie offers free advice to Junior and Leaving Cert pupils.

Uniquely the video tutorials, offering tips on everything from algebra to Romeo and Juliet, is created by the pupils themselves.

The TY pupils encouraged contributions from pupils in all years in the Meath school, and the students filmed the videos on site at the school.

The project is representing Ireland at the Microsoft European Innovative Teaching Conference in Berlin this week.

Now that the website has been launched nationally, the site's managers hope to receive contributions from all over the country.

David Walsh, Transition Year teacher at Ratoath, said: "It is hoped that the website will encourage other students and schools to submit their own learning videos in order to create a freely accessible resource for all students facing exams.''

So students who fancy themselves as budding teachers and YouTube megastars can make their bids for fame at mystudymate.ie.
