Dr Botox injects a little self-publicity
You can't blame an enterprising woman for taking any opportunity to inform the public about her particular area of expertise, and Ireland's "Dr Botox", Danielle Meagher, for one, doesn't hold back. Even when the opportunity comes in the shape of Sharon Corr's face.
"Sharon's still a natural beauty," the dentist opined last week, "but ... she has lost some volume on her face and will certainly need some Juvederm Voluma to replace lost volume and also Botox for her forehead." It was certainly a novel way to drum up business. Though no doubt well meaning, this diagnosis (provided gratis, of course) might have been better made on a more private platform than her social networking site.
Dr Meagher later apologised for the comment, presumably recognising that certain well-known figures might not really enjoy having such analysis of the state of their appearance made public. "I met Sharon once," she said, "and I think she is absolutely beautiful." Sharon, at the time of writing, had declined to comment. Perhaps she was busy thinking up a suitably acid retort to post on her Facebook page.
No doubt now, having heard the good doctor's advice, all telly-bound celebrities within the confines of this island will be booking themselves a slot in Danielle's treatment chair. With the one exception, presumably, of Sharon Corr herself, who if inclined to take up the dentist's advice, could be forgiven for bringing her business elsewhere.
