Bits and bytes: Imelda helps ring in the changes for Vodafone
- Vodafone finally took the wraps off its iPhone offering last week with the help of Imelda May -- and no surprise it looks a lot like O2's deal.
The main point of difference is the promise of "unlimited" free calls and texts to other Vodafone customers.
Mobile plans are notoriously difficult to compare -- deliberately -- but otherwise there appears to be precious little daylight between the two networks.
This is essentially a re-run of what happened in the UK, with competing providers shunning a price war even in the midst of a recession.
Don't forget, too, that Apple will inevitably release a new model in June, but if you're still keen, Vodafone's iPhone goes on sale on March 25.

- The app of the week must be RTE Radio's Documentary on One.
The application allows playback of more than 400 episodes of the series on your iPhone.
Cleverly designed, the free app enables you to listen to streaming versions over the phone network or tag them for download as a podcast.
Find what you want with the search function and share your choice via Twitter, Facebook and email.

- I have been reluctant to link to this for fear of what you might see but ChatRoulette shows no sign of running out of steam.
The simple idea links strangers on webcams with each other, producing some interesting random chats but inevitably a lot of indecent behaviour.
Give it a go, if you dare.

- The future of the incredibly popular Call of Duty series is in peril after a huge falling-out between the game's publisher Activision and senior members of its creator, Infinity Ward.
Two top Infinity Ward staff have already parted company amid strange rumours of "insubordination" and launched a $35m lawsuit.
The furore surrounding the $1bn franchise has already been dubbed 'Brawl of Duty'.
