Video: Figure Skater wins silver medal for 'Riverdance' routine

A 19-year old skater from Illinois has gone viral after he wowed the crowd at the US Figure Skating Championships in Boston on Sunday.

Jason Brown received a standing ovation following his routines, with members of the audience throwing roses on the ice.

The skater excited the crowd with his "footwork", which caused the commentator to remark "It's like his Riverdance!"

The skater was described as "not much of jumper" during the slower start of his routine, before he took the crowds and viewers by surprise with his fast-paced free skating routine.

The teenager eared a point score of 270, briefly putting him in first place before claiming the silver medal overall.

"There's room for the entertainer, the artist and the athlete... he's got it all!"

The video of the routine has amassed over 1m views since it was posted on Sunday.
