West Ham’s demolition at the hands of Nottingham Forest got a little too much for one young fan, as the boy pictured was spotted in tears at the final whistle having seen his beloved Hammers blown away 5-0 in the FA Cup third round.

But in the true spirit of the magic of the Cup, the club are attempting to track down his youngster after offering him and his family a chance to experience a VIP package for an upcoming home game at Upton Park.

The generous offer comes as the club attempt to make amends for the mammoth loss, with Forest playing in the league below their Premier League opposition. Although under-pressure manager Sam Allardyce elected to field a young side due to the number of injuries his first team currently have, no-one was prepared for the mauling that ensued at the City Ground.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Sunday afternoon’s defeat at Nottingham Forest was tough for all to take, but particularly for one tearful young man in the away end.

“Everyone at West Ham United shares this young man’s disappointment and are grateful for the large numbers of fans that made the trip to the City Ground.

“To show the Club’s appreciation for the travelling Claret and Blue army, the Board, manager and captain would like to offer this young fan and his family a chance to watch an upcoming fixture at the Boleyn Ground from the Directors’ Box.”

So who could they go along and watch? Newcastle, Swansea and Norwich are all set to visit Upton Park in the next few weeks, although the League Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester City might be one to avoid if the Hammers’ recent form is anything to go by.
