Lighting the fire, flicking the kettle on and falling into a freshly made bed might be home comforts many of us relish, but not Leonie Müller (23) who has given it all up to live on a train.

The student from Stuttgart, Germany let go of her accommodation to take up residence on a commuter train after she fell out with a landlord last spring.

The 23-year-old who studies in Tübingen University carries all her belongings on the train including a wash bag, which she uses to wash her hair in the train’s bathroom.

Each month, Leonie purchases a €330 season ticket to travel on all train services which saves her almost €70 a month compared to rent.

The student is in a relationship with a man in Cologne and stays with him on occasion. Leonie also visits her mum in Berlin when she fancies a brief escape from the train.

"It all started with a dispute I had with my landlord," Müller told The Washington Post.

"I instantly decided I didn't want to live there anymore — and then I realised: Actually, I didn't want to live anywhere anymore."

“I really feel at home on trains, and can visit so many more friends and cities. It's like being on vacation all the time,” she said.

"There are always more opportunities than one thinks there are.”

Leonie is documenting her nomadic lifestyle on her blog ‘Wherever You Go There You Are’.

“The next adventure is waiting just around the corner — provided that you want to find it,” she said.
