Shot by YouTube user AMF, who posts regular videos from Cork and its airport, the footage shows an incoming CityJet flight touch the runway before gusting winds force it to abort the landing and go around for a second attempt.

The plane landed safely shortly afterwards, AMF writes.

Thousands were left without power as Storm Barney swept across the country this week, with strong winds causing flight disruptions at Irish airports.

Several flights were cancelled at Cork, while the highest winds recorded Tuesday were at Shannon Airport, with operations disrupted by gale gusts of 128kph.

One flight, Ryanair's FR-1183 from London Gatwick, aborted two landing attempts before diverting from Shannon to Liverpool.
