Washington DC

Gemma O'Doherty

America's capital city is made for cyclists with its flat terrain and endless bike paths. Now, visitors can take a pedal tour around DC, stopping off at all the major sights along the National Mall and Capitol Hill, including Union Station, the White House, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

Taking groups of up to 15 people for three hours, Bike and Roll Tours (bikeandroll.com) include a quirky history lesson on the city carried out by guides with an in-depth knowledge of every nook and cranny.

The tours run from March 12 to December 23 and cost $40 (¤28).
