A Taste of Luxury: 100 Getaways around the World
Taschen's new book, 100 Getaways around the World, is jam-packed with glossy photos of some of the best hotels in the world – and by 'best', Taschen doesn't mean the most expensive or the most heavily promoted, but hotels which give guests that little bit extra – be it a balcony with breathtaking views, or a sumptuous bed and hand-ironed linens, or freshly cut flowers in your room.
The accommodation, which has been chosen for its attention to detail and little extra touches, runs from B&Bs to six-star luxurious hotels. The selection ranges from dream castles on Lake Garda to the glass-fronted hipster chic of Juvet Hotel in Norway; and on to Mediterranean pensiones with nostalgic flair and moderate rates, and includes the pricey-yet-spectacular desert glamour of the Amangiri resort in Utah's canyon country. The book, compiled by Margit J Mayer, is priced €51. If property pages are considered property porn, this is definitely travel porn.
