The 12-bedroom hotel also places 13th in the world in the Best Small Hotel category, and 20th in the world within the Bargain category.

"We are totally bowled over," said Helen Heaton, who owns and runs Castlewood with her husband, Brian. She described these, and previous awards, as a huge testament to her team's commitment to guest service.

“What sets the winners apart is not just a high standard of service and accommodation, but the fact that they deliver this day in and day out,” said James Kay, TripAdvisor spokesperson, commenting on the awards.

Kate’s Place B&B in Doolin, Co. Clare was judged Ireland’s top B&B, while The Merrion Hotel in Dublin was named the country's top luxury hotel.
