Fashion designer and heiress Nicky Hilton, who married British banking heir James Rothschild at Kensington Palace last July, went on to spent a good deal of the month of August on the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

If it's good enough for a Hilton/Rothschild, then we feel it could well be worth our while checking out this beauty spot in the province of Salerno in Southern Italy.

The Amalfi Coast is a continuous succession of headlands and inlets, bays and fjords, which are interspersed with pebbled beaches and rocks. There are 13 towns spread across this sun-kissed strip of land which is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amalfi, the town that gives its name to the coast, is situated at the mouth of the Valle dei Mulini, and looks like a cluster of white houses clinging to the rock and connected to each other by covered alleys and stairways. At its centre is the beautiful Cathedral of St. Andrew.

Louis Vuitton's new city guide app

Louis Vuitton's chic City Guides - which feature carefully selected addresses to help us avoid tourist traps around the world and instead find some original gems - have been published since 1998.

There are now 25 cities in the collection, and recent additions include Bangkok, Chicago, Prague and Rome. Other destinations have been updated with new information too, including Paris, London, New York and Venice.

The good news is that the guides have recently been given a mobile upgrade. You can now download app versions of each of the 25 city guides in the Louis Vuitton guidebook series, ranging from Beijing, to Istanbul, to Los Angeles.

The apps offer lists of hotels, restaurants and tea rooms, and also include antique shops and museums.

Sound headphones for on the road

Looking for good wireless stereo headphones to take on the road with you, whether you're planning a cycling trip in Spain or to go trekking in the Pyrenees? Plantronics Backbeat Fit wireless headphones are now waterproof so you don't need to panic if you're caught in a rain storm.

This lightweight headset features a sweat-proof design, and is known for having a decent sound. It has an integrated microphone.

It includes a reflective armband case for your smartphone, and which doubles as a storage case for the headphones.

The headset also allows you to hear background noise - very important so you don't get hit by a car as you cross the road. It costs approximately €140.
