A rail track fire at Gatwick airport caused huge delays to commuters and holidaymakers.

Dozens of trains operating to and from the West Sussex airport - which is on the main line between London Victoria and Brighton - were delayed or cancelled due to the blaze.

Southern, Gatwick Express and Thameslink services were affected.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it received a report of the fire at 7.07am on Tuesday but the blaze was already out when crews arrived at the scene.

Gatwick is the second busiest airport in the UK, with 41 million passengers each year.
