The new platform and website (intokildare.ie) were officially launched yesterday at an event in Barberstown Castle, Straffan, Co. Kildare.

Kildare offers "the best of Ireland in one county," according to the new platform, within enviable reach of the country's biggest city and principal airport.

Created with the funding and support of Kildare County Council and IPB Insurance, the first wave of digital developments includes a main website and several microsites dedicated to food tourism and golf, as well as a FoodScape app.

Additional microsites and trail apps are expected to follow.

New features on intokildare.ie include geo-mapping, a central festival and events calendar and a dedicated 'Stories of Kildare' section.

"As Kildare is repositioning itself towards a new 20:20 Strategic Vision for Tourism, this revolutionary new Digital Portal will be key to a sustainable future for tourism development in the County," said Tony Lenehan, Chairman of Kildare Fáilte.

The digital platform was developed by Acton BV.
