Falcon Holidays and Thomson are to operate direct flights from Dublin to Cancun and Jamaica from June 2016, it has been announced.
The new flights, to be operated on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, will facilitate package holidays to Mexico and Jamaica's Montego Bay in Jamaica.
The service to Montego Bay will begin on June 12, 2016, with the Cancun service starting a day later on June 13.
Each route will operate weekly for six weeks.
“We are very excited to be the first Irish tour operator to charter direct non-stop flights to Mexico and Jamaica,” said Chris Logan, Head of Ireland for Falcon Holidays and Thomson.
“We believe that the range of exclusive holidays we will be offering coupled with this state-of-the-art jet will be well received by Irish holiday makers."
The full programme and package prices will be unveiled next month, he added. Flight-only prices will also be available, the tour operators have confirmed.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will offer economy and Premium Club class seating.
“These new services will offer significant additional choice for holiday-makers who want a long-haul break and want to fly direct non-stop from Dublin,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison.
The new routes will bring to 20 the number of long-haul routes operating out of Dublin Airport next summer, with 17 destinations in the Americas and the Caribbean, two in the Middle East and one in Africa (Ethiopia).
The airport is celebrating its 75th birthday in 2015, and has already seen passenger numbers increase by 15pc in the first four months of this year.
