Over 100,000 ride new wooden coaster in just seven weeks

With speeds of over 100km per hour, heights of 32.05 meters and a drop zone of 31 meters, the rollercoaster is popular

Over 100,000 people have visited Tayto Park in the last seven weeks to ride the Cú Chulainn Coaster.

Europe’s largest wooden rollercoaster, which travels at speeds of over 100kph, was opened on June 7 and since then tens of thousands of people young and old have travelled from all over the world to give it a whirl.

Figures released from Tayto Park show that over 2,100 people ride the coaster every day, with one person riding it over 30 times in a single day.

The oldest person to ride the coaster so far was 83, and the furthest away someone travelled to go on the rise was from Tasmania (17,757 km away from Co Meath).

Tayto Park General Manager Charles Coyle said that he was delighted with the success of the ride.

“We are thrilled to see that visitors excitement about the Cú Chulainn Coaster is only building as we get further into the summer months.

“It’s great to see that news of Europe’s largest wooden rollercoaster has travelled so far,” he said.

Although no revenue figures have been released by Tayto, prices for the park are €14 for a child and adult entrance ticket plus an extra €1 per ride.

With 100,000 people riding the coaster in seven weeks, Tayto Park is potentially looking at a significant increase in revenue from the new attraction.
