The notion of a kiddies' club has just got an upgrade at five-star Le Royal Monceau Raffles Hotel in Paris, where children staying in the luxurious hotel are offered a cultural programme and visits around the City of Light's many attractions.
There are more than a dozen options for children aged five to 15, including a walking tour of bakeries and chocolate stores, a scavenger hunt in the Louvre, where a guide gives children age-appropriate riddles leading to different wings of the museum.
There's a chance to be Monet for a day with a trip to the Musee d'Orsay to see the artist's works, and also a visit to a Parisian artist on his houseboat near the Pont Neuf where children can create their own paintings.
Le Petit Royal kids programme includes welcome sweets created by the pastry chef Pierre Hermé, a free art workshop on Saturday afternoons, a free two-hour pizza-making class, and the free use of a Polaroid camera during their stay. Prices for a cultural programme start at €350 for four children.
