The pleasure list: Jemma hears music of love
Published 29/02/2016 | 02:30
Young Donegal-born actress Jemma Nic Lochlainn has every reason to be proud of her role in the love story Shoebox Memories.
She plays Emma Jane, a feisty young woman who embarks on a no-strings-attached relationship with a jaded and heartbroken musician called Chris, who is played by Colm Gavin.
Chris struggles not to fall in love with Emma Jane, and while experiencing the highs and love of a new relationship, deals with his feelings by playing music.
The film also stars Brendan Sheehan, the brother of Love/Hate actor and heartthrob Robert Sheehan.
Jemma should be proud because Shoebox Memories is one of only 10 films selected for screening at the 10th Dingle International Film Festival, which runs from March 17 to 20.
It's the debut feature film from the production company, Plain Sailing Films.
Plain Sailing was launched by director Jason Branagan and film and music producer Laurance Meade. As a result, the film has a good sountrack.
Jemma has previously acted in the short films, Dog Tag, and Disappear. And has also made a brief appearance in the TV series Red Rock.
Sweeten mum up with a box of delicious chocs
If it's a little something yummy you're after for mum for Mother's Day next Sunday, look no further than Marks & Spencer. Even if its delectable selection of sweets is so tempting there's a risk you'll eat them, and be left presenting mum with a sheepish smile and chocolate at the corners of your mouth.
Sea Salt Caramels are all the rage at the minute, and M&S are doing deliciously creamy milk chocolate sea salted caramels priced very nicely at €4.49 (90g).
Pink Marc de Champagne Truffles - milk chocolate Marc de Champagne flavoured truffles dusted with freeze dried strawberries -should also work a treat, and cost €8.99 (145g).
One which seems guaranteed to delight any sweet-loving mum is Marzipan Spring Fruits - an assortment of fruit shaped almond marzipan which is priced at €5.99 (110g). Rose & Violet Creams are rose and violet dark chocolate creams, and a 170g box costs €5.99.
Will you marry me - oh, and here's the engagement ring
We're confused over whether a woman has to provide the engagement ring should she drop to her knee and propose to her beau this Leap Year?
We do know however where there are some endearingly elegant engagement rings to be found should a woman decide to leave nothing to fate and propose to her boyfriend tomorrow.
It's the date - which comes around every four years when an extra day is added to the calendar - when it is considered right on for a woman to ask for a man's hand in marriage.
So what perfect timing then for popular Irish jewellery designer Chupi Sweetman-Pell to launch her exclusive collection of engagement rings in 14k gold -and which are set with sparklingly bright precious gemstones.
Chupi was a well-known fashion designer with Topshop prior to designing jewellery.
BTW matching weddings bands are promised. Rings are available in Powerscourt Townhouse, South William Street.
