The loves of my life with jewellery designer Louise Stokes

The jewellery designer and Owner of Loulerie talks about the inspiration her mother and how her other-half is, thankfully, chilled out.
My husband, Christian, and my children, Ellie and Sebastian. I live and breathe my business, so when I come home and paint my house the same colour as my shop, or steal furniture from the house for a display . . . you need a pretty chilled-out other half
Going to New York for the first time - it was love at first sight; everything about the city is so vibrant and exciting. I remember the first time I drove over the Brooklyn bridge into the city and it just looked like a movie set. I couldn't believe I was going to live there. I always get a little emotional when I land there now. I had great times, and have amazing memories with friends for life who feel more like family. I think my time there really shaped who I am
The moment of the day
Late afternoon or early evening, especially on holidays, when you come up from the beach and have a chilled glass of rose when it's cooling down. I hate mornings, literally hate them!
I am so bad at getting up early
Can't Get You Out Of My Head by Kylie Minogue - it reminds me of my early 20s when I would get ready with my friend Eimear, and we'd put it on before we went out - such fun times
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, the original, not the new one. I loved Roald Dahl as a kid. I read all the books, and I loved this movie when I was little, and could still watch it over and over now. I was an only child, and my friends always tease me about it. Ingrid [Hoey] calls me Veruca Salt, as I always want to steal the new pieces that arrive in store. I love that song Pure Imagination
My mom. She is amazing, so elegant and so strong. I wouldn't be where I am today without her support. I was pretty flighty as a teenager, then I ended up moving out - instead of going down the road, I moved to New York City. She supported everything I did, apart from when I dyed my hair black. She hated that, and when I pierced my belly button
The Island by Victoria Hislop. I spent a summer in Greece, so I loved the history and setting of this book
My Katya Katya Shehurina lace dress from Costume. I bought it last year and I wish I could wear it every day, but it's black lace, so that might be odd in summer. It is eyelash lace and has a fitted bodice; it feels amazing on. I like to invest in clothes rather then buy lots of things
I think super hard about accessories as that's my business, so I do change them up. I adore Lulu Frost jewellery for all the art-deco references, and wear her pieces on nights out. I always go back to fine jewellery; my diamond dragonfly necklace is my favourite piece. It's inspired by my friend Kelvin Mann's print, which hangs in my store, and it was one of my first designs, so it feels really special to me - I wear it every day.
My phone; all my friends and family would say I'm obsessed with it. Parking Tag has changed my life
The pet hate
Chipped nail polish. My mom always has the most immaculately groomed nails, so I grew up looking at them. Also, with showing fine jewellery, I think a lovely polished nail is important.
Laura. She has been my best friend since I was 16; she feels more like my sister. We have had the same gang of friends since then - Brian, Marie and Sinead. My favourite times are hanging out with that crew. Marie named my store Loulerie, as they all call me Loulou
The beauty product
Mac Cream Colour Base in Hush; my friend Noelle uses it when she does my make-up, and it makes your skin all dewy. For skincare, Jan Marini products. I swear by them, especially their cleanser
The Mayan Riveria in Mexico. It was paradise - the food, the beaches . . . I loved everything about it
The Westbury, Dublin - it's like my second home. They are the best staff and it's such an oasis of calm in the middle of a busy city, especially at Christmas - it has an amazing atmosphere
I love Electric in Notting Hill, London
The piece of advice
'Never settle'. I have no idea where I heard this, but it's definitely the mantra I live by. I think it's OK to aim high and dream big. Living in New York opened my eyes to the possibilities life holds, and if you work hard enough, you can achieve anything, but make sure you know what you want, as it's important to be happy with it when you get it.
Billecart-Salmon Rose Champagne; I had it for the first time in Paris a few years ago
Cooking healthy treats, as I get seriously 'hangry' when I need to eat, so I always carry snacks. I love the cookbooks by Hemsley and Hemsley, and like to try out new recipes. The banana bread is amazing and guilt-free, but some recipes I have tried to bake that are 'free from' everything, taste pants
The part of my body
Sienna Miller. I love her boho, ethereal style. She never looks too try-hard, and she is brilliant at wearing jewellery on the red carpet
Loyalty - I am loyal to the core, I have had the same friends for years and I really value their friendships
Coffee - all types, iced, cappuccino . . . I literally survive on coffee, it's an addiction
Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue - I have been wearing it for years. Or freshly baked croissants - how can you resist that? It's always my first stop when I'm buying in Paris
Savoury, especially nachos with sour cream and guacamole, I could basically live on that.
I love spicy food, too. A night in Wanderlust Dalkey is basically my idea of heaven, with lots of dishes to share; if you don't share, then don't come. I'm not a big dessert fan
New to Loulerie for the summer season is the Mini Dragonfly Collection in 14-carat rose gold.
