Stylewatch: The Snapchat Star

First, there was the rise of the wordy blogger thug, who would pummel you with phrases such as, 'check out my blog' and with bad grammar, which made you want to scream, "It's an apostrophe - use it, goddamn you" at the computer. "And while you're at it, try writing a sentence that isn't 28 words long."
Then came a new breed of civilian-celebrity, the Insta star - they have it sewn up. No need for wordy posts on Instagram, just snap a shot of breakfast, or nab a meaningful epitaph from the internet, and job done.
Lately, they have been usurped by the Snapchat stars, who tend to be that bit more real and witty. And mercifully less earnest. Snapchatters, such as James Kavanagh, left, are making a name for themselves on the ephemeral app with short videos and posts that disappear on viewing, but which have surprising lasting impact - lately, James's interview with his nephew Sean, who has autism, attracted national and international notice.
