Travel Insurance Tips

When booking on online insurance sites, make sure to find out the name of the insurer for the package you are considering. Big name brands are often quick to respond to general emergencies involving their customers. For example, Thomas Cook flew all their customers home from Tunisia recently, regardless of whether they had booked a package or were independent travellers.
Check the policy document and make sure you bring the all-important emergency phone numbers with you when you travel. Book additional insurance if you're taking part in an activity like skiing or indeed any sport.
When travelling to the US bear in mind that medical costs there are particularly high. It might be worth paying for higher medical coverage.
Be wary of very cheap policies. Check the coverage, particularly the summary of benefits.
Travel insurance is a competitive market so shop around.
