That's the saving you could make in a year by going veggie for just one day a week.
Meat-free Mondays make financial as well as health sense - and there's added benefits for the environment as plants produce much fewer greenhouse gases than meat.
A 500-g packet of lentils costs just €1.29 compared with around €4 for the same quantity of mince - so over a year, you'd save €140.
Similarly two 400-g tins of chickpeas will cost you just €1.18 compared with around €4 for a pack of chicken fillets - saving you €147.
AND a half-dozen free-range eggs will cost you around €1.70 compared with around €3 for a packet of pork chops, so a weekly omelette could save you €88 over a year.
