Revealed: The most popular cities in the world but Ireland doesn’t feature

Forget the bright lights of New York or the romance of Paris as London has been crowned the most popular city in the world according to new research.
The annual research conducted by Mastercard has revealed that London is the most popular capital city on earth and is expected to attract more than 18.82m overnight visitors in 2015.
Bangkok was named the second most popular city destination with more than 18.2m people expected to stay at least one night in Thailand’s capital this year.
Paris and Dubai came third and fourth in the list respectively in the research which takes into account overnight visitors and how much they splash on average while visiting each city.
Other cities to feature in the top ten are New York, Istanbul, Singapore and Hong Kong.
This is the fifth time in seven years that London has claimed the top spot on Mastercard’s list and this year visitors are expected to plash more than €18.1bn.
