Real Irish Weddings: Love in the city as Amy and Declan tie the know in City Hall

Amy, from Nottingham, and Declan from Sligo, met while travelling in New Zealand and romance blossomed.
And when Amy moved to Thailand, Declan followed, eventually convincing her to move to "the best country in the world", Ireland. Amy says, "Twelve years later I'm still here so I guess he had a point." Declan proposed on the last day of a holiday the couple took to Costa Rica, after organising a romantic meal on the beach at sunset, which totally took Amy by surprise.
The pair chose to have a humanist ceremony in City Hall on Dame Street in Dublin. Amy says: "I pass City Hall every day on my way to work and think it is one of the most beautiful buildings ever. I thought it would be special for us and also for our guests as it turned out that none of the Irish contingent had ever been inside." Amy and Declan also found their dream reception venue in the form of The Anglers Rest in Chapelizod, Dublin, where they chose their own menu to include citrus potted crab with lobster salad and a French trimmed rack of lamb.
Amy was lucky in her dress shopping, finding her perfect frock, by House of Mooshki, in Carla's Brides, Nottingham, on her first try.
"The whole day was amazing," she says of her Big Day. "From the moment I arrived at the hairdressers' I just relaxed and enjoyed the day. It was too late to change anything by then and I figured as long as Dec turned up it couldn't go too far wrong!" Afterwards, Amy and Declan took the trip of a lifetime - a safari in Kenya, followed by a relaxing retreat to Zanzibar.
